How to Get Online Admission in Kendriya Vidyalaya?
The admission for Kendriya Vidyalaya for the year 2019 will commence from February of this year. The admission in Kendriya Vidyalaya for Class I students begins from the first week in March this year.
However, the online registration for KVS Class I will start only from the third week in March this year. The KV admissions list for students of Class I will be given by end of April. The registration for the students for Class II in KVS will commence from second week of April this year.
The applications for the KV admissions for classes, except Class XI, is last week of April 2019. The registration for Class XI will commence once the Class X board results are declared. The admission for Class XI will be complete before the last week of June this year.

KVS Admission 2019-20 Eligibility
The KVS has issued guidelines for students obtaining admission for different classes from Class I to Class XII. For each of the classes the students should be within the stipulated age either group or lesser than the prescribed age.
Otherwise, he/she shall not be eligible for admission. As on March 31, 2019, the student obtaining admission for Class I should be between 5-7 years. For Class II the student should be between 6-8 years old and for Class III the candidate must be between 7-9 years.
For Class IV the student should be between 8-10 years and for Class V he/she shall be between 9-11 years. From senior school starting from Class VI, the student must be between 10-12 years and for Class VII, they shall be between 11-13 years.
For Class VIII, he/she must be between 12-14 years and for Class IX, the student should be between 13-15 years. For Class X, he/she must be between 14-16 years. However, there is no prescribed age limit for admission to Classes XI and XII.
KV Admissions Process for All Classes
Here we will discuss about the admission procedure for each of the Classes beginning from nursery to Class XII.
Kendriya Vidyalaya Admission for Nursery, LKG and UKG
The Nursery, LKG, and UKG admission procedure is quite simple. The students are admitted with or without an interview the principal and respective class teacher. Normally, parents have to obtain admission forms immediately as it is a first come, first serve basis.
Parents can discuss issues if any, about their child to the principal and class teacher. Each class will consist of 40 seats.
Kendriya Vidyalaya Admission 2019-20 for Class 1st
The admission process for Class I can be tedious because the admission forms have to be obtained immediately once released from the KVS. It is first come, first serve basis. Not to mention, a reservation of 15% is provided to SC and 7.5% for ST candidates.
The KV admission process for Class I comes in two phases. In the first phase, out of the 40 seats, 10 seats are filled by RTE. The 10 seats are filled with the help of an admission lottery. During the second phase, the 30 seats are filled according to the category.
KVS Admission 2019-20 for Class 2nd to Class 8th
The Class II to Class VIII is discussed below. For obtaining admissions into Class II to Class VIII, the need for the student to give admission test is not required. Students can apply online for admission and based on the priority system, admission is provided.
Like read above, a lottery system is followed. The category also consist of a single girl child quota, which is followed from Class VI onwards. It is applied when the applications are more than the allocated number of seats of 40.
For Class IX, the management of the school holds an admission test. The admission is provided based on the merit achieved by the student in the admission tests, as well as his/her marks obtained in Class VIII.
The test is based on subjects like English, Hindi, Social Science, Math, and Science. The test duration is for 3 hours and comes with a single paper. It is for 100 marks and candidates should be able to obtain 33% to pass.
Relaxation for SC/ST
There is a 5% relaxation for candidates belonging to SC and ST. Different streams are available for admission, which include Science, Commerce, and Humanities. The strength of a class in each of these cannot exceed 40 students.
Those who are able to score more marks in subjects like Math are normally gives preference. When students have similar grading in Math, then the mark in Science is considered. In cases of a tie in the score, then the candidate who is older is given preference.
The students who have not been able to qualify for admission can do so the next academic year, with better grades. They will be taken into a stream of course. Students wanting to get admission in Science and Commerce batch must have obtained a minimum of eight CGPA.
Candidates who want to enroll for Humanities should have got at least 6.4 CGPA in the board exams. Consider the students of State Boards/ICSE/NIOS where marks are awarded for admission in class XI if vacancies exist.
KVS Admission Online for Class 10th and Class 12th
Those seeking admission in Class 10th and Class 12th will be provided admission solely based on the vacancies present. The average class strength is 40 students. Unless, there is a shortage of students or seats available, the students are admitted.
However, the Deputy Commissioner of the Region has the authority to sanction seats in special cases for admission in Classes X and XII. The student must have got at least more or same as 55% in Class 9th.
For admission in Class XII, the student must have received more or same as 55% in Class XI. Not to mention, the student should have studied in a CBSE school previously. The subjects must have been taught in the KVS for being eligible for admission.
KVS Admission for Class 9th
For Kendriya Vidyalaya School 2019 Admission to Class 9th is based on the marks obtained in the Class X board exam. The streams of Science, Commerce, and Humanities can be taken. For Commerce, the students must have obtained a minimum of 6.4 CGPA.
For the Science stream, the student must have obtained a minimum of 7.6 CGPA. To be eligible for Humanities, the student should have cleared the Class X exam without any arrears. If two candidates have obtained similar marks, then the students who have more marks in Math will be given preference.
If the marks in Math is the same, then the marks of Science is taken. When the marks are a tie, then the student, who is older, will get the seat.
Conversion of marks to KVS grades
The marks got by the student are converted to grades for admission into Class XI in KVS. They are 91-100 marks will be graded as A1. Marks obtained between 81-90 are graded as A2. The marks between 71-80 are graded as B1.
The student receiving marks between 61-70 will be graded as B2. The candidate receiving marks between 51-60 will be graded as C1. Students earning marks between 41-50 are graded as C2.
The marks of 33-40 are graded as D. The students getting marks between 21-32 are graded as E1 and between 0-20 are graded as E2.
Central School Admission of Children Studying Abroad
For a KVS student who was studying in India, but went abroad for a few years, can come back and join in the current class he/she is studying. However, if there is an issue in the KV admissions process due to guidelines, the commissioner of the KVS area will decide on the case.

The students are categorised accordingly during the KV admissions process.
This category is meant for children of foreign nationals who are deputed in India. They also include children of central government employees and ex-servicemen. Kids of central government who can be transferred or non-transferred can be also considered.
This category is for kids belonging to the non-transferable and transferable employees. The employees must belong to the educational department of the central government.
The category is for kids whose parents are working for the state government. These children come under the category-III.
The category-IV is the same as to that of the kids belonging in the category-II.
The category-V is for children whose parents are in India due to personal or professional reasons. Unless there are, seats vacant for admission would these students be allowed for admission.
Are there any age relaxations?
Yes, there is age relaxations.
For children who are physically handicapped, the age is relaxed by 2 years.
For students seeking admission for Class IX, there is no restriction in the age. However, they must be admitted to Class X in the same year itself.
For students who are appearing for Class XII have no limit in the age. However, the student should not have had a break in his/her study.
Are there relaxation in the allocation of seats?
Yes, there is relaxation in the allocation of seats for students who are seeking admission.
For students belonging to SC, there is reservation of 5% of seats.
Students who are from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe, there is a 7.5% reservation of seats.
For students who are differently abled, there is a 3% reservation of seats.
Students who are from the economically weaker sections (EWS), there is a reservation of 25% of seats.
KV Online Admissions Documents Required for YEAR 2019-20
What are the documents parents should bring during the registration?
If you want to admit your child in Class I, then you should bring a birth certificate. The certificate should be have been issued by the proper authorities. It can be the municipality, area council, or the cooperation. The certificates can also be from the military hospital, village Panchayat, and affidavit for defence personnel.
For Classes II to XII, the transfer certificate (TC) and date of birth, which has been given in the TC, is accepted. However, the school has to be recognised by the central and state government.
The parents need not hand over the original birth certificate even if requested by the school. However, the birth certificate can be asked for verification and has to be returned.
The children can attain admissions from Class II to Class VIII without admission tests and transfer certificate. However, the birth certificate should be genuine and approved by the proper government authority.
The children whose grandparents are honorable Members of Parliament (PSU Employees included), a relationship certificate must be produced during the KV admissions time. If grandparents were KVS employees, then their grandchildren can apply.
Students who are from the EWS, SC/ST/, BPL, MBC groups have to give a certificate of poof from the stage or the union government.
Kids, who have some form of disabilities, should have the right certificate, which has been issued by the proper health authorities.
Central government servants, who have been transferred several times, should have the proper proof on the number of transfers. It should be stamped with name, designation, and relevant details by the by the Head office.
For uniformed defense personnel, a retirement certificate must be produced.
For defense employees, they should be able to produce a retirement certificate.
Lastly, a residence proof should be provided during the time of admission in KVS.

What is Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan?
The Kendriya Vidyalayas Sangathan or central schools are a group of schools, which are affiliated to the central government of India. These schools come under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).
